WORKSHOP VISIT: QUEEN CITY DRY GOODS
Matt Renna is a nothing less than gifted when it comes to creating amazing apparel made from natural fibers such as leather, cotton and wool. His techniques and quality material sourcing are a throwback to the days when things were thoughtfully made with durability as the goal. After creating Queen City Dry Goods only a year ago, Matt immediately set about designing (and producing) his classic, stylish and functional debut collection.
I visited Matt's Burlington, VT studio/store last week not only to poke around and pick his brain about creating a business, but to pick up one of his gorgeous bags for an awesome Rackk and Ruin giveaway (stay tuned for details!) **did i mention he's self taught!?

YOU GO GIRL
Six year old Lori Anne Madison will be the youngest competitor everrrr at the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee. She's totally awesome. I just wanted to share a few of my favorite Lori Anne quotes with you guys:
"It didn't make me nervous because ... I am accepted by any group. I have older and younger friends. My youngest friend is Reese; he's three years old. My oldest ones are Shelby and Walker, and they're eight."
"I like astronomy and biology, so the perfect thing (career) for me would be astrobiology."
"I also am aiming to be in the swimming part of the Olympics."
"i'm really really hoping for a descent, nice, big-sized trophy."

ASPHALT
Eric and I spent Saturday morning jackhammering and moving a huge chunk of our asphalt driveway. We will never need the space to park 5 cars and grass is oh-so much nicer. A little self-timer'd backyard photo shoot with the asphalt pile seemed to be appropriate. The pile will hopefully be gone by next week so i'm trying to get in some quality time while it's still around.
p.s. Anyone have a dump-truck that i can borrow for a few hours?
