bona fide

London based hyper realist sculptor Ron Mueck blows my mind.  He painstakingly creates silicone and mixed media people that are so realistic you might need to take a second look. . . if it weren't for the fact that they are always represented much larger, or smaller, than normal.  I saw some of his work when i was visiting my sister in London years ago. . . His subjects are often disturbing, grotesque or sad/forlorn.

I can't help stare at the first one:
the woman in the bed is so big and then the (younger looking?) woman is so small next to her: I wonder what's going on in that representation?....

Imagine being one of his subjects-what a mind fuck.
I absolutely love the way he renders skin. In person his work takes your breath away.

"Dead Dad" was the first piece by him that really got me. National Portrait Gallery (London) had him as a resident for a while. Whoa.
