MINK RAT or RABBIT

The Detroit Cobras could technically be called a "cover band" . . . but in reality they are nothing of the sort; they completely rework soul music from the 50s and 60s into much more of a "garage rock" and roll vibe.

"Singer Rachel Nagy and guitarist Mary Ramirez are the bad girls by the exit doors at the school dance, all leather and heels, sneaking smokes and passing the flastk.  They have no time for dewy-eyed love songs or girl group decorum; they'll take care of business themselves with a bat of the eye or an elbow to the kidney." (Bloodshot Records article)

I must also state that lead singer Rachel is an ex-exotic dancer and butcher. . . holy fuck. Now that's a combo.
