HOW IS THIS FASHION?
Yes, Magdalena Frackowiak is a very thin model, with a very big bobble head, but to me there is a big difference between the two photos below. . . the first one seems like it's screaming to be posted on thinspo blog but the second is somehow beautiful. Maybe it's because i'm aware of the original layout that it was a part of (a great spread by Hedi Slimane)
Or maybe i'm being ridiculous and they are both pretty creepy.

I think they are both beautiful.
Magdalena is naturally thin, she is super tall and one of the most amazing beauties.
well, i'm sorry but there's naturally thin and then theres starving! i'd say these are both creepy and unattractive photos, even though the first one is 5 times more horrific than the second.... ew.
how does she still have tits?
She pretty much looks the same as me naked, except an entire foot taller, and I can say, with complete honesty, I eat extremely well considering I'm from a German family (i.e. dumplings and fried schnitzel galore) AND when my dear father is a chef. I think it's "ridiculous" that you're judging people you don't know, not to mention creepy. Have some respect, please.
Well.. if I suck my tummy in I look pretty much like that and I've gained some weight in the last couple of moths (which means that this isn't even my 'normal' weight).
Of course she's very thin but I never really considered Magdalena as unhealthy thin. She just is this way I guess.
Their pose has a lot to do with their ribs showing. If you are thin and lean back like that you would further expose the ribcage.
I find the first photo really quite vom. not to insult her as I am in fact a big fan but its just ribs and tits and vadge to shock. the second, is a good photo.
The first one is.. yes, kinda creepy..

Put on a shirt ferfrixsake! And some pants. Nudity is NOT fashion.
my question would be how is nudity fashion? i've always thought fashion had something to do with clothing. my eyes don't immediately go for the necklace in the first pic so how is the model doing her job (to show off clothes??) yarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
beside all the weight issues here, i personally find these photos to be mindblowing still. and hedi has done another amazing job.

for some reason she bugs me. i really should get behind her though, as i am a bobble head myself.
im an art student and love photography of human forms yet (without wanting to sound like a fucking old grump) in my opinion its irrelevant if she is this naturally thin, the industry shouldn't be showcasing images like it- there are plenty of beatiful poses which would not enhance how skinny she is! and the fact that the majority of the female population are definately not as naturally thin, to obtain the same look they would have to adopt dangerous habits and possibly jeapordize their lives.. with eating disorders at an all time high, pretty much a shit argument if you think its fine to flash skin and bone imagery at us everyday in advertisements/magazines
The weight debate in fashion argues that thin models and women are 'disgusting' and the photographers or designers who hire them are 'irresponsible' - it seems the discrimination argument has been turned on it's head and people don't think twice when discriminating against a girl who is naturally/genetically thin - something they would never dare to do if this was a curvaceous girl like Lara Stone.
As someone who has worked as a stylist with a lot of different models, I believe that on the whole (obviously there are exceptions) these are healthy and happy women who view their diet, exercise regime & weight as an integral part of their profession - a model is hired for her looks/body and as a result must care for it in the same way an athlete might train for an event. And while eating disorders & body image are a huge concern for society and NEVER something to be taken lightly, so is the alarmingly fast-growing rate of obesity and weight-related disease such as diabetes and heart disease - particularly in my home country of Australia but also across the globe.
If we are to discriminate against thin girls for being thin then we perpetuate the message that ALL women aren't beautiful just the way they are, whether that is healthily thin, athletic, short, tall, curvaceous or voluptuous.
Maybe we should all try to accept models for what that are - no matter what the size on their clothes might read.
