HALLOWEEN CONTEST!
Seeing that Halloween is less than two weeks away, and i haven't come up with a genius costume yet, i'm putting it out to you guys. Give me you best ideas . . . what have you been in years past that blew the socks off people? Bonus points for the least amount of money needing to be spent on the costume. In the past few years i've been Rufio (Hook), Joan of Arc, and Annie Hall.
***The reader with the best suggestion will win $35 credit towards Rackk and Ruin Jewelry on Etsy. . .

McQueen Fall 09! Toss a lampshade or an umbrella on your head, wear some big scary lipstick and a black/white red comforter pinned in all the right places...

Blues Brothers: Super easy, black suit, fedora, wayfarers and either Elmore or Jake "tattooed" on your knuckles... a partner in crime is best. Last Halloween, we were forced to sing Stand By Your Man.
Little Edie Beale: This sassy gal has so many outfits in both Grey Garden films, it is hard to choose one look... but don't forget the ubiquitous head scarf ;)
I can't wait to read other suggestions... I need ideas as well!
simple. you were made to wear yourself out as ZIGGY STARDUST. I think it would look brilliant, with the full on faux hawk (spray dyed red tips) and lightning face paint.
Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction, post overdose.
Some blood from your nose and sticky tape a syringe to your heart. DONE!
I was a runner up in your halloween contest last year... I dressed up as Bjork. I'd love to see your take on the swan dress, or perhaps another one of her crazy outfits.
Tyler Durden would be really awesome and easy to do. Leather jacket, collared shirt, trousers, some fake blood and bruises... what a way to both rock the menswear trend and look tough/sexy while doing it.
A jellyfish would be a funny costume. Wear all white/light blue and pink/chiffon and then use a clear umbrella with streamers hanging down to be the top part and tentacles of the jellyfish. Alternatively, you could dress up as a shrimp or little fish and actually be both the prey and have the umbrella you're holding be the jellyfish itself.
hope you find the perfect costume!!!
so siegfried and roy is such a fun costume! you would be siegfried, naturally. you'll need to find a roy and get a stuffed white tiger. throw on some self-tanner and a glitter blazer. hilarious!

i've also been carmen miranda. you can get really creative with the head-piece and make it your own.

Rachel Zoe (Fur! And a cell phone. I die.)
A celeb mug shot (Any celeb or pick a specific one. Just make the plackard that each con holds, eff up your makeup and wear whatever you damn please because you're a hot mess! Warning: this is possibly the best costume ever.)
Or Joan Harris from Mad Men. Red wig, a 50s dress w heals and push up those boobs. Easy!
Or a designer. Like Lagerfeld...with the wig, the black outfit/white shirt, gloves...
A miner in Chile (too soon? but they turned out great!)
edward sciccorhands!
i cant really tell you the specifics of how to do it, a friend was dressed up like this some years back, not me. it one of the best costumes i ve ever seen.
maybe you with the all the craft tools, can do the sciccorhands..
the only problem (my friend had it!) is that you ll have troubles holding the booze!!!
good luck and have fun!

Oooh I'm loving your blog! I did a Halloween post a few days ago with lots of pics of my previous costumes... check it out for some ideas :)
a few years ago i was little "dead" riding hood. the wolf had gotten me.
i had a red shirt, skirt and my mom made me a red cape. we ripped up the clothes and i had bruises and scratches all over me. my hair was a hot mess. so much fun!
hope you have an awesome Halloween!

short, blonde hair? badass attitude? totally tank girl.
if you're not a fan, then uh... never mind. but if you are, it's the easiest costume ever! just throw on ripped up tights, jean shorts, shit-kicker boots, a furry hat and a haphazard assortment of military/post-apocalyptic gear... then hand paint one of her signature t-shirts - the target or the '40 watt club' and you're set.
my best costume ever (which you could totally do) was tom sellak as magnum p.i. everything was purchased from a thrift store for a total of under $10 except for the stick on mustache, eyebrows, and chest hair (chest hair definitely a neccesity!) it was bangin and i scored a date that night. from a dude.
check my blog for picture inspiration..it's rad.

Short blonde hair = instant Twiggy. I'd love to be her, but finding a mod dress is a pain.
I'm going to be a droog from "A Clockwork Orange" this year: white button-down top, white jeans, combat boots, cane, derby hat, suspenders/harness, and fake eyelashes for one eye. It would look badass on you.
Sarah Palin would be terrifying.
last year, minnie mouse with custom made (obviously) maison michel mouse ears with red/white dot bow http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&q=maison%20michel&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1279&bih=686
You should be a mystery. Wear a black dress and tape tons of white question marks all over yourself. When people ask you what you are, you promptly reply with,"I don't know"
voila
Chunk! From Goonies!
hulk hogan
Pai Mei from Kill Bill 2. The beard would be a little tricky though...
I don't need the prize if this happens to win, because I have no credit card. But my suggestion is outer space. That's what I'm being this year. You just spray blue and white safe paint in swirls on your body, then white specks of splatter over it(stars). make your hair crazy and use rods on a thin headband to stick planets and such to it as a headpiece. For actual clothes, you can go spacesuit style or just a simple black cutoff t-shirt with fabric-paint galaxies on it, and have fun with it!
haha oh i've been so many things like snow white (scary!!), a witch, sloppy pumpkin, a skeleton
