SAVAGE BEAUTY

I was lucky enough to spend these last few days running around NYC with my sister Alden. We did a pretty great job of packing (almost) everything in and were a sad to part ways at JFK bright any early Sunday morning (Alden back to SF and me back to VT). I just wanted to share a few of my favorite photos from our adventure.

If you are in NYC before July 31 make sure you check out the amazing Alexander McQueen' "Savage Beauty" exhibit at the Met. The exhibit (fantastically organized by The Costume Institute) is totally breathtaking and includes pieces from McQueen's 1992 postgrad collection through his last runway show in 2010. Make sure you fork over the $7 for a headset . . . totally worth it.

** no photos were allowed in the exhibit so i took a few stills of the book afterwards.
I didn't write down the name of this artist but loved the 3D piece with tiny people.
I was psyched to see more work by one of my favorite artists, El Anatsui.
Lunch at Prime Meats in Carroll Gardens before a rainy day viewing of Bridesmaids.
I loved how all the guys working there were dressed a'la Philip Crangi.
White wine at Superfine in DUMBO
I'd never ventured into DUMBO before so Alden and I walked there after the movie in Carroll Gardens. Alden's friend has an amazing apartment in this industrial building overlooking the river . . . needless to say, it's ridiculous.
His roof . . .
The view from the apartment:

Flea market in the East Village on Saturday
We heard loud music and cheering while wandering through the East Village on Saturday so we went to see what it was . . . turned out to be a Double Dutch competition!!
Obsessed with the Highline. Would like to live on it.
Also obsessed with this dog i saw in Williamsburg named "Wheezy Bitch." She was the sweetest thing in the world and it took all of my control not to grab her and run!
84 year old John Chamberlain's work at the Gagosian Gallery in Chelsea

Brunch at Roebling Tea Room! Their famous Burger All The Way~
