NOMIA

My friend Aly and I headed over to The Standard Hotel's Highline Room on Friday night to check out Yara Flinn's NOMIA show. After locating the Standard's side entrance and having our names checked off multi-page list (props to the faces behind fashion week!), we wiggled our way into a spot with a view. It seemed the very moment we found one the lights went down and the music started thumping. One after another models began strutting down the runway wearing Yara's flattering creations . . . lining up along the side wall for our extended viewing pleasure. Aly and I kept nudging each other in approval as shades of emerald, tan, and black went swooshing by. The show was topped of with heavy use of flatirons and lent jewelry from Yara's pal Pamela Love. Yara popped out for 2 seconds at the end with an adorable little wave. When the lights came on it became obvious that a second fashion show was now in full swing: the insanely well dressed crowd.

I had every intention of going to the NOMIA after-party at Bedlam - DJ'd by artist Nate Lowman - but after eating Thai takeout and watching a couple episodes of Freaks and Geeks it became glaringly obvious that the grandma in me was going to beat out the party animal.
