ABBEY LEE

My older sister and I are planning a two week trip to South America in April . . . we have no finalized plans/places yet but are thinking it'll end up being a week in Argentina and week in Brazil. . . I would love any advice/suggestions of places we shouldn't miss out on. We are "Off the Beaten Tracks" kinda girls so it should be quite an adventure!!

I've been to Brazil two times, Rio is a must and also Isla Grande. There's a town called Porto de Galhinas (Chicken Bay) where we stayed the second time and it was a beautiful, quiet village. Brazil is great no matter where you go though.

Good luck

i have been to brazil for two months in 2009. sao paulo is a great city (culture, art, architecture, shopping, food (!!!) wise). almost no tourists and for me as cool as nyc. also the island of boipeba is a little paradise and the ilha grande is super beautiful with its rain forests and beaches if you wanna stay near rio or sao paulo (keep in mind: the distances in brazil are huuuuuuuuuge!)

I loved the place that my friend and I stayed in BA called Craft Hotel (www.crafthotel.com). It is affordable and owned by an artist and is truly awesome. The comp breakfast is unmissable and I think it is about $60 a night per person.

If you like Indian I would go to Krishna http://www.guiaoleo.com.ar/detail.php?ID=1627. It is such a happy place. Hope that helps!

Nice! Im dying to go to Argentina! I went to Chile and Peru a few years ago. If you can make it to Peru, and I HIGHLY recommend you do, you must see Machu Picchu, its beyond amazing!

i went to both brazil and argentina for a month a couple years ago... i had a lot of fun in brazil, rio is great... and so is sao paulo... it really depends on how long you will be staying. i didn't have the best time in argentina, but i don't think i stayed in the right area.

good luck!

ive been to brazil a few times with family friends from there. if you get a chance, the island fernando de norohna (about a 2 hour flight from recife) is the most beautiful place i've been in my entire life. look it up and you'll fall in love.
