Since there is no Forever21 within a hundred mile radius i'm finding Charlotte Russe to be a pretty adequate alternative. I had a little solo saturday evening "back to school" shopping spree (hmm, been out of school for as long as i was in now) and got this, and this (in both colors).
While in the mall (a place i despise) I stopped into Old Navy, Banana Republic and Gap picking up This, this, this and this. I'm not usually the megabig brand store kinda shopper but i'm actually pretty psyched with what i found. Great basics for fall. I'm especially obsessed with the sweater i got from banana republic. It's all kinds of drapey sweater perfection.
this shirt from Gap is a great alternative to the $$$ ones i've been lusting over

L'AMACOEUR
So it's ok if i want to see a, probably terrible, romantic comedy if it's French right? That's gotta give it some points. . . that, and the fact that i've just discovered Romain Duris and his unbelievably adorable smile. I hope my boyfriend doesn't mind that i've added his entire cinematic career to our Netflix queue. whooops.
Definitely wanna see this movie too.

UP UP AND AWAY

OUTTAKES
I shot the Rackk and Ruin Fall 2010 Lookbook yesterday with my gorgeous friend/model Kate (of the awesome blog Youprobablylookbetternaked). The weather was amazing and we had tons of fun rocking out to an iphone playlist behind my studio. . . that is until the custom auto body-shop next door started spewing noxious spray-paint fumes from their wall vent (it was literally painting the grass below). Luckily we were on our last couple photos by then.
I'll let you know when the new pieces are posted to Etsy!!
Thanks again Kate! You are amazing!!
FREAKSHOW
Just saw this over on Refinery29 and had to repost. I can't remember the last time i ate McDonalds and this project by artist Sally Davies just reminded me why. Davies placed a fresh happy meal on her living room table and "watched what happened" over the course of . . . well, indefinitely. Here are two photos. Can you tell which one was day one. . . and which is day 137? ok, they are labeled, but if they weren't you might have to do a double take.
apart from slight shrinkage, not much difference.
HANNAH & DREE BY BOO & ANDERS
The baggy 1920s menswear look is definitely working here. and Dree is growing on me.
I had to press mute the first time i saw a little video clip of her talking about her layering skills . . . but i've been impressed with her personal style lately, and, except for that aweful A.Y. Not Dead campaign, i'm enjoying what she's up to.
